Success Stories

Manolita's Story

I am currently a student at APCC-CTC computer training classes. I’ve been a student in the computer classes for over a year now. I’m here to learn basic computer skills and hoping in the near future will be able to be more proficient if not professional.

In general I learned the mouse skills, word processing skills, and spreadsheet manipulation.

I had used the computer before but not in any everyday or workplace setting. I was always afraid of making mistakes or destroying the computer, so usage was limited.

I felt these constraints when I took my NCLEX (Nursing Board Exam) online. I did not pass the exam and I believe the nervousness of computer illiteracy did not help.

Today after my training at the APCC-CTC, I feel more confident and ready to take my exam again and this time I will not allow the computing part of it to intimidate me. I’m currently attending Truman College for ESL Level 6 and will soon transfer to their credit course program. I feel more confident in completing assigned homework on the computer. Without the skills I have acquired at the APCC-CTC, I would not be able to keep up with the class and assigned typed projects. With all the computer skills that I have acquired, I plan to enroll in the APCC Workforce Development Program to help me find a job in the Healthcare field.

APCC-CTC’s instructors and enthusiasm has helped me be more motivated to keep practicing computers. They have helped make me feel part of the APCC community. APCC has helped me be more successful in my career life.
