APCC Adult
Literacy Tutoring Program
What Services Do We Offer?*
APCC’s Adult Literacy Tutoring Program provides
tutoring services to adults who have limited skills in English or
basic literacy. Tutoring is based on a life-skills curriculum that
assists learners to acquire and actively use literacy skills in
their communities, at home, and at work. Instruction is delivered
through one-on-one or small group tutoring, and is provided by
dedicated volunteer tutors. Tutoring services are also delivered and
supported by Americorps members from the Literacy Volunteers of
Illinois VOCAL Program.

My Story
By Rich Levenfeld,
APCC
Volunteer Tutor
As a tutor at APCC, I have been provided with the tools and the
support to provide real help to honest and hard working people.
The students at
APCC
are wonderful people who deserve our patience and the skill and
dedication we are able to provide.
I
not only enjoy doing anything I can to help them learn, I also enjoy
their company along the way.
APCC
provides a warm and caring environment for the people of this
neighborhood where they can learn and improve themselves and their
families. This organization
is like having a good friend in the community and I am so happy to
do my small part.
